Listen and look for emergency vehicles.

New drivers aren't always in the habit of checking their mirrors. If an emergency vehicle is approaching with only their lights flashing, and no sirens, they might not know it's coming. Remind your new drivers to check their mirrors - rearview and side - so that they are aware of what is happening on the road.
